About Us
The Atlanta Church of Christ (ACOC) was formed in 1987 as a group of 250 disciples
of Jesus devoted to reaching the world with His message. Today this family of
approximately 2,500 believers is spread over more than a dozen counties in the
Atlanta metropolitan area. In 2005, in order to more effectively meet the needs
of all the different ministries in the ACOC, a process was begun to reorganize
the ACOC as a family of local congregations across the region.
While the organization of the ACOC has been decentralized, we continue to share
many things in common. Most importantly, we share a common Father, a common
Savior, and have a common Spirit living in us. We share a common message of
salvation through Jesus. We share a common devotion to following the example of
Jesus, who compassionately met both the physical and spiritual needs of people
as he preached the good news. We are working together along with other ministries
throughout the Southeast to provide financial support to missions in Africa and
the Caribbean islands. When practical, we enjoy joint services between the
various ministries. We have joint activities for our teens, singles, and college
students which foster unity and friendship. We work together to support a
much-loved summer camp for our children, and together share its many benefits in
spiritual growth and friendships. The many relationships between people in
different ACOC congregations are the glue that keeps us connected as we serve
Christ together in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
